Cabo da Roca

Also known as Cape Roca, Cabo da Roca is a cape and the westernmost point of continental Europe. Located about 40.5 km away from Lisbon, Cabo da Roca is situated in Sintra, a city in Portugal’s Lisbon region. Besides featuring a beautiful landscape, the place is famous for its stunning views of the sunsets. Cabo da Roca is easily accessible by car, which you can park for free at a nearby parking lot.

Sintra

Sintra is a major tourist destination in Portugal’s Greater Lisbon region. Obidos

Just 29.3 km east of Cabo Carvoeiro lies Obidos, a medieval town settled over a hillock. Situated near the Atlantic coast, Obidos is known for its meticulous preservation of medieval architecture. Caves Mira de Aire

Spread across 11 km, the Moinhos Velhos Cave is an important cave system in Portugal. Known for its uniqueness, Portugal’s largest caves are just 85 km away from Obidos. Tomar

Located about 47.1 km northeast of Caves Mira de Aire, Tomar is a historic city in Portugal’s Santarem District. Tomar came into existence in the 12th century following the orders of Gualdim de Pais, the Knight Templar’s fourth grandmaster. Tourist attractions in Tomar include – Castle and Convent of the Order of Christ – a Unesco World Heritage Site, Aqueduct of Pegões, Church of Santa Maria do Olival, Synagogue of Tomar, and Church of Saint John the Baptist.

Buçaco Forest

Also called Mata Nacional do Buçaco or Bussaco Forest, Buçaco Forest is a massive forest area spread across 105 hectares. Situated about 116 km north of Tomar, the forest is home to more than 250 species of various shrubs and trees. Besides the overwhelming greenery, you can explore the ruins of the Bussaco Palace Hotel and the Buçaco convent. Espinho
